Global Multi-Asset Portfolio Management
A portfolio under steady sail

Architecture and Management of Global Wealth Portfolios
Substantial private wealth rarely exists within a single portfolio. It is typically distributed across private banks, asset managers, operating businesses, funds, direct investments, real estate, alternative assets and multiple ownership structures in different jurisdictions.
For principals and their families, the challenge is not simply to select investments. It is to maintain consolidated control over risk, liquidity, liabilities, counterparties and the quality of every material decision.
Catamaran Family Office creates an integrated framework for managing complex global wealth. We combine investment strategy, principal-level oversight, counterparty coordination and consolidated reporting, giving the family a clear view of its assets and the implications of every significant decision.
We work alongside the principal’s existing team, support the family investment committee or act as an external CIO within an agreed mandate. We do not duplicate the roles of private banks, asset managers or specialist advisers. Instead, we establish common rules, benchmark results, identify gaps and inconsistencies, and hold every participant accountable to the family’s unified strategy.

Key Areas of Support
Investment Policy and IPS Architecture: We develop or review the family’s Investment Policy Statement, defining investment objectives, constraints, target returns, risk tolerance, liquidity requirements, concentration limits and decision-making authority.
The IPS provides a disciplined framework for evaluating opportunities, coordinating advisers and maintaining consistency across market cycles, institutions and generations.
Strategic Portfolio Architecture: We design a long-term asset allocation framework across public and private markets, currencies, geographies and investment horizons.
The architecture reflects the family’s liabilities, liquidity needs, ownership structures, tax and legal considerations, values-based preferences and intergenerational wealth transfer objectives. Where appropriate, specific cultural, ethical or faith-sensitive requirements can also be incorporated.
Alternative Investments and Due Diligence: We assess direct investments, private funds, club deals, real estate and other illiquid opportunities.
Our review may cover commercial rationale, structure, counterparties, governance, valuation, liquidity, documentation, downside scenarios and alignment with the wider portfolio. Legal, tax, technical and sector specialists are engaged where required.
Bank and Asset Manager Oversight: We compare mandates, fees, performance, risk exposure and execution quality across local, regional and international providers.
Our oversight identifies overlapping positions, unintended concentrations, mandate deviations, hidden costs and inconsistencies between reported performance and the family’s actual objectives.
Liquidity and Treasury Management: We plan cash flows, reserves, capital commitments, financing requirements and currency exposures across the family’s global asset base.
Scenario analysis may include major acquisitions, investment commitments, family distributions, philanthropic initiatives, tax liabilities and other significant capital requirements. The objective is to preserve liquidity without compromising long-term value.
Crisis Advisory and Reputation Protection: We provide coordinated support during periods of financial, regulatory, operational or reputational pressure.
This may include counterparty coordination, KYC profile governance, source-of-wealth documentation, liquidity planning and collaboration with legal, tax, compliance and communications advisers. Our role is to help protect the integrity of the family’s capital and reputation.
Consolidated Reporting and Risk Analytics: We provide a unified view of assets, liabilities, performance, fees, liquidity, currency exposure, concentration and counterparty risk.
Reporting frequency, scope and depth are tailored to data availability, governance requirements and the principal’s priorities. The result is decision-ready information rather than disconnected institutional reports.
